While women make up nearly 60% of all accountants and auditors in the US, women of color represent only 17% of the entry-level employees, and only 4% of partners, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. This lack of representation in leadership, along with a variety of other systemic and individual firm roadblocks, lead many women of color to leave the profession or choose other career paths altogether.
In this session, we will talk about some of the challenges women face as they advance through the ranks, offer advice for those that want to pursue leadership roles, and discuss the importance of creating a supportive culture in our firms.
