Course Description

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 made significant changes to the Child Tax Credit allowable under Internal Revenue Code Section 24. These changes impact both the 2021 calendar year and 2021 tax returns. This presentation will cover the main changes that the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 made to the Child Tax Credit and eligibility. Also included will be a comparison of the Child Tax Credit for 2021 and 2020. We will also discuss advance Child Tax Credit payments and the various online tools, guidance, and resources available on IRS.gov.

Evette Davis is a Stakeholder Liaison representative for the Internal Revenue Service, Communications & Liaison Division located in Charlotte, N.C.

She currently works very closely with various N.C. and S.C. Federal, State and Local governments as well as industries and business organizations. Her purpose is to educate stakeholders about recent tax law changes, available small business products and services necessary to promote longevity and voluntary compliance. She is the area lead for Small Business Tax Workshops, Disaster Assistance and Small Business Forums.

Davis began her career with the IRS in 1988 as a Cooperative Education student in the Compliance Division. In 1990, she joined the IRS as a Revenue Officer in Columbia, S.C. In 2005, she became a Tax Specialist in Charlotte, N.C.  She coordinates and conducts numerous tax seminars and workshops that successfully educated small business owners and industry leaders throughout N.C. and S.C.

Davis graduated from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Office Management in 1990. She embraces every opportunity to educate and communicate with organizations in small business communities throughout the Carolinas.

Odette Turenne

Odette Turenne is a Senior Stakeholder Liaison with the Stakeholder Liaison office of the Internal Revenue Service Communications & Liaison Division.

Odette began her career with the Internal Revenue Service 32 years ago as a Revenue Agent in the Examination Division of the Small Business/Self-Employed Operating Division of IRS.   

Currently, as a Senior Stakeholder Liaison, Odette represents the IRS at education and outreach events and works with tax professionals, payroll providers, industry and trade associations, small business owners, and other federal, state and local government agencies.  She speaks at organization meetings, conferences, seminars, forums, and workshops on tax related topics relevant to the tax professional or small business audience.  

Odette is a graduate of Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
